Meet Your Photographer

Paul Haynes, photographer at Memories Portrait Photographers

Hello, I'm Paul...

I've been behind the camera for over 30 years and I still love taking photographs as much as the day I first started. As a teenager, I won the beginners competition at my local camera club and that was it, I was hooked! It inspired me to study photography for three years learning the art of lighting and the craft of creating a great portrait. I then spent two years in London assisting many photographers who shot for magazines and big commercial campaigns. I even met a few famous faces along the way.

My work then took me all over the world which is how I met my wife, a beautiful South African girl who has been by my side ever since. For the last 12 years, I've been photographing families, couples and kids here at my stunning studio in Ilkeston.

What I love most is people. Capturing those special moments, the laughter, the connection and your family at this moment in time. This is what it's all about for me. My job is to make you feel relaxed, experience a few laughs and have you leave with memories you'll treasure forever.

Most people tell me they hate having their photo taken but by the end of the photoshoot, they're usually the ones who had the most fun. Also, sessions are never rushed. If the little ones need a break or a snack, we simply pause and carry on when they're ready. Please bring your four legged family members too. Your much loved pets are part of the family and some of my favourite photos have a waggy tail in them.

When you come back to see your images, I'll pop the kettle on and we'll go through them together over a cuppa. There have been plenty of happy tears at those viewings, especially over photos with grandparents and little ones. Time goes by so quickly and a portrait of everyone together is something you'll have for a lifetime.

When I'm not in the studio, you'll find me out on long walks with my dog (and my wife too, if there's a country pub at the end of it).

If you'd like to book in or have any questions, just give me a call as I'd love to hear from you.
